2014 SCARES THAT CARE Weekend Horror Convention: COMING June 27 to 29, 2014: Charity Event For Sick Children and Breast Cancer

S C A R E S  THAT CARE WEEKEND
COMING June 27th 29th  2014

An extraordinary convention designed to delight horror genre fans while benefiting those desperately in need. Scares That Care! is an IRS approved, 501(c)(3) charitable organization, designed to bring together the fans of “all things spooky.” Each year, our goal is to raise and donate $10,000 to a Children's charity, or to help a family who has a sick child or a woman fighting Breast Cancer. More importantly, the charity will receive every single penny of the money we raise.

A VERY Important Message
from
SCARES THAT CARE
founder Joe Ripple:
Whether it’s haunted houses, paranormal, horror films,
or anything else in the “vein” of the horror genre,
Scares That Care! brings together those individuals in
order to give back to the families that need it most… and
in turn, become “Good Ambassadors of Horror”

Can you guess which is the SCARES THAT CARE kitten?
The difference between our convention and the other,
fantastic shows that are out there, is very simple. All of our
proceeds will go to the families that need our assistance.

We pride ourselves in being an organization that has no salaries, and no paychecks. We do this because we are confident it’s the right thing to do, and we want to represent the Horror community in the best light possible!

About The Show:

  • POSTED : JANUARY 29th, 2013

Ladies and Gentlemen…
I just wanted to take a few moments to speak to you candidly, about what we are trying to do with our “Scares That Care! Weekend Convention show in 2014
The main reason I started “Scares That Care!,” was because I have dear friends who lost their four year old daughter to a disease that she could not fight. I stood beside my friends, and I cried with them as they lowered her into the ground.
We have such a short time on this earth, and it should be a time where we get to celebrate with our children and loved ones as long as we can. By interacting with the fans of the horror genre, I knew that together, we could accomplish something great. We could provide at least some small amount of assistance and relief, even if the outcome was not favorable.
This is not a convention, however, that will “tug on your emotions.” This is a show of positivism. friendship, compassion and fun. You ever see those commercials on television, depicting sad images that make you want to change the channel? Right. You WON’T see that at our show. We will laugh, we will party, and we will have fun. All the while, we will remember why we are there.

THAT CARE
president Mr Joe Ripple!
This isn't about any one individual, or trying to see if we can be the best “show.” This is all being done for them.

For the families we hope to help, now and into the future. We’re not looking to prove anything, other than the simple fact that those who love the scariest movies, the most haunted of houses, and all things spooky – are also the first ones who are willing to stand up – for those who perhaps can’t stand on their own.
That’s why we’re doing our show. Thank you for any help you can give us in this endeavor. Share our show with those you know, let everyone know why we are doing it.
We may not have the best guest list, we may have guests that you have seen before. But in advance, thank you from the families.

The Hammer Horror Blu-Ray Campaign

Sign the petition to ask Warner Bros to issue their Classic Hammer Horror titles on Blu-Ray, fully restored and mastered in 1080p for maximum picture quality!

Sign here: http://diaboliquemagazine.com/sign-petition-wb-release-hammer-horror-titles-blu-ray/

Why is this important? WB’s Hammer titles represent the British company’s very best output, and for many reasons, including cultural and historical, we believe these films should be restored and released in the new digital medium without delay.

Major studios are reluctant to release most of their catalog titles on BD due to the expense of scanning and restoration, as well as limited shelf space in stores. Instead, they focus on a limited group of films that they consider big moneymakers. Our goal is to show them that there is a robust market out there that goes beyond blockbusters. Supporting this campaign is a vote for classic films in general, and for greater diversity of titles in the home video marketplace.

The importance of this campaign to cinefiles can not be overstated. That’s why Guillermo del Toro, Bob Burns, Douglas McKeown, Mark Verheiden, Shane Briant, Svengoolie, and Chad Crawford Kinkle have all signed!

Warner Bros is listening! Make your voice heard NOW!
